SILIGURI,: To save the plants, social worker Alok Paul and his friends have
started watering the flowery bushes that were planted on the flyover divider of
Asian Highway II in Bagdogra.
Due
to lack of maintenance of the Asian Highway authority, hundreds of plants are
on the verge of dying on the road stretch and many have already died. The
plants died due to scarcity of water only because of the concern that the
company got a late work order from the highway authority.
According
to the experts, the flowery bushes are expensive and bought for the
beautification of the flyover.
Alok
along with his friends hired a tanker from the nearby tea garden and started
watering to save the plants. He said,
“Plants are the saviours of the earth and being a human being I could see the
speechless plants dying only because of someone’s carelessness. It’s really a
shame that the Asian Highway being such a prestigious authority fails to save
the plants.
The
workers of the highway were also seen cutting the plants which were already
dried and dead.
