CM meets JICA delegation to discuss infra projects

GANGTOK, (IPR): In a high-level meeting earlier today, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang held discussions with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Sunouchi Tatsuhiko, Senior Director of the South Asia Division 1.

The meeting, aimed at strengthening infrastructure development, saw key talks on potential collaborations.

The Chief Minister was briefed on the progress made by the Roads & Bridges department, which has submitted a Preliminary Project Report (PPR) to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Government of India. The report outlines plans for the upgradation of four roads and one bridge, seeking funding under JICA's infrastructure development initiatives.

The talks centered on the potential impact of these projects, with a focus on leveraging JICA's technical expertise to ensure successful implementation. The delegation and officials also discussed the importance of aligning the projects with sustainable development practices to meet both infrastructure and environmental goals.

Senior officials from the Roads & Bridges Department were present at the meeting.
