Governor flags-off Sikkim contingent for Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025

GANGTOK,: Governor Om Prakash Mathur on Tuesday flagged-off the Sikkim State Contingent participating in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue at Raj Bhavan.

The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 is scheduled to take place during National Youth Festival at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the occasion.

The flag-off programme was organised by the Sports & Youth Affairs department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, a Raj Bhavan release informs.

In his address, the Governor extended his congratulations and best wishes to all the students representing Sikkim at the National Youth Festival. He highlighted the significance of their participation, stating that the students have undergone a meticulous selection process to represent the State and their representation is a matter of pride and privilege for both the individuals and Sikkim as a whole.

Emphasizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor remarked that the youth of the nation are the driving force behind this transformation. He further added that when the inner talent of the youth shines, it propels the nation forward.

Further, the  Governor also reflected on India’s ancient heritage, citing historical education hubs such as Nalanda and Takashashila Universities, encouraging the youth to draw inspiration from the nation's rich history and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat@ 2047.

Furthermore, the Governor urged the students to showcase their inner potential and focus on holistic development. He commended the selected students for their achievements and stated that their participation will reflect Sikkim’s rich culture and diversity. He assured all possible support from Raj Bhavan to participating students of the State.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sports & Youth Affairs secretary MT Sherpa who expressed gratitude to the Governor for his gracious presence and acknowledged the pride and responsibility of representing Sikkim at a national event. He also provided a brief overview of the State government initiatives on the grassroots level for the selection of students for Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue event.

Following the speeches, the Governor officially waved off the Sikkim State Contingent for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and the National Youth Festival 2025.

The programme had the presence of Governor’s secretary JD Bhutia, along with other officials and staff from the Raj Bhavan and the Sports & Youth Affairs department.
