DARJEELING,: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to visit
Darjeeling Hills after almost a year and preparations are on full swing to
welcome her.
She will arrive
on the evening of November 11 and will stay at Richmond Hill until her
departure on November 14.
As per the
itinerary of the Chief Minister, she has a meeting with the Gorkhaland
Territorial Administration members and chairpersons of Development Boards the
next day. Issues like transfer of powers of some departments, relief and
rehabilitation of those affected by Teesta flood among other things could be
discussed in the meeting.
The meeting is
likely to take place at Gorkha Rangmanch Bhawan here.
On November 13,
around 3 pm, she will be inaugurating Saras Mela at Chowrasta. Stalls and a
makeshift stage are being constructed there for the inauguration program.
The Sale of
Articles of Rural Artisan Society (SARAS) Melas are a platform for rural
artisans and self-help groups to showcase and sell their different products.
After two days
in Darjeeling, the Chief Minister will return to Siliguri on November 14 and
then onwards to Kolkata either on November 14 or 15.
