Medical courses are one of the most popular choices after passing Class 12 because of the potential for professional growth and remunerative job opportunities. Lakhs of applicants enrol and take the NEET UG exam every year. According to last year's data, 7,71,500 aspirants qualified for NEET, whereas 13,66,945 candidates applied. This indicates that only about 56% of candidates qualify for the medical entrance exam.

The level of competition to qualify for the NEET exam is increasing day by day, therefore medical students who have not prepared adequately but wish to pursue a career in health care or medicine should be aware of medical courses that do not require an MBBS degree.

There are numerous medical courses available after Class 12 that do not require the NEET exam, allowing medical students to study while earning a good salary. Aspirants who have not yet appeared for NEET can still enrol in these courses and work in the healthcare field. Bachelor of Science in Nursing- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is a 4-year programme in medical science. It's a professional course that prepares students to help people through medical treatment. Bachelor of Pharmacy- B Pharmacy course is a UG course that focuses on the study of pharmaceuticals, including the development, manufacturing, and distribution of medications. Bachelor of Physiotherapy- Bachelor of Physiotherapy or BPT is an undergraduate degree programme of 4.5-years that focuses on the human body structure and includes a six-month mandatory internship. Physiotherapy is the study of treating humans through physical forces like heat, electricity, mechanical forces, and mechanical pressure. The average salary that a BPT course graduate earns ranges between INR 2 LPA and INR 8 LPA.

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy- BOT is a 5-year UG degree designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals facing physical, mental, or cognitive challenges. The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy admission is based on the Class 12 scores. I

B.Sc. Hons. in Physiology-B.Sc. Hons. in Physiology is a 3-year undergraduate program with a specialization in Physiology and life sciences. The minimum eligibility criterion which most of the institutes ask for is a score of at least 50% (relaxable for reserved category candidates) at 10+2 or equivalent level. B.Sc. Hons. in Physiology course provides holistic knowledge of animal and plant physiology to the bachelor level students that would help them to adjust to the job market as well as provide a platform for higher studies. B.Sc. B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering- This is a 4 years course and is a sought-after course that involves the study and application of engineering principles and design concepts related to Medicine and Biology. This branch of engineering aims to merge design and problem-solving skills to improve healthcare diagnosis and therapy. Students after completing their 10+2 in the science stream can pursue a B.Tech in biomedical-engineering. Admission to these institutions often involves competitive entrance exams like JEE Advanced, GATE, or specific state-level exams. Biomedical Engineering graduates can work in various job profiles such as Clinical Engineer, Biomedical Engineer, Medical Device Engineer, Biotechnology Engineer, Research Engineer etc. The average salary for a B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering graduate is Rs. 8 LPA.
