SILIGURI,: North Bengal University (NBU) is hosting the first ever ‘North
Bengal University Campus Carnival’ on December 18 to provide platform for
showcasing the creative and entrepreneurship skills of the students and
research scholars of the university.
The
carnival is also an endeavor to promote artists, farmers and lower middle class
people to uplift them and earn livelihood through business platforms.
NBI
registrar Nupur Das said that the innovative minds will showcase sustainable
agri and floriculture products, handicrafts, traditional food, cultural
extravaganza and many more. Including students from North Bengal, delegates
from Bhutan and Nepal will also participate in the carnival, she added.
The
carnival will be organized in collaboration with the Centre of Floriculture and
Agri-Business Management (COFAM) of NBU and the Border Security Force (BSF).
“There
will be 40 stalls of craftsmen, farmers, artists, students, tribal communities
where food court, exhibition and sale of green vegetables, fruits, flowers from
hills and plains, clothing, art and culture and many more exciting stuffs,”
said Prof. Amrendra Pandey, technical assistant at Department Of Biotechnology
(COFAM), NBU.
Meanwhile,
the students are overwhelmed and excited and working hard to make the grand
event a historical one.
“It is immensely
a big and historic carnival, we are going to have lots of people joining us in
the mega event, there will exciting events including face painting, live
events, pottery, art and painting and many funny ones,” said Rachaita and
Manisha who were in the coordinating group of the carnival.
