Rajasthan students visit Sikkim for educational tour

GANGTOK,: Governor Om Prakash Mathur today granted audience to the students and teachers from PM Shri Government Senior secondary School, Jashwantpura, Jalore, Rajasthan at a special programme held at Ashirvad Bhavan of Raj Bhavan.

A group of 65 members, both teachers and students, are in Sikkim for educational tour to understand State organic farming, environment- friendly policies etc., a Raj Bhavan release informs.

In his brief address, the Governor highlighted how the organic farming practice has put Sikkim in world focus and established itself as the fully organic farming State in the country. He said “Sikkim is a State with zero crime, pollution-free and no plastic. The people Sikkim are very polite, hardworking, friendly and maintain communal harmony.”

The Governor highlighted the 1967 Indo-China War in which valiant Rajasthani army officer, Major General Sagat Singh made a significant contribution. He also asked the students to learn from the nation's rich history and to draw inspiration from the valiant officer, Major General Sagat.

He also shared insightful information about the Vibrant Village Programme in Sikkim, where 42 villages were chosen for the initiative. Vibrant Village Programme is envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi under 'Viksit Bharat@2047'.

To help make Rajasthan a more environmentally friendly and crime-free State, the Governor encouraged the children to apply what they had learned on the tour. He also spoke on the paramount importance of a teacher who acts as a force to lead the youth on the way to progress and prosperity.

“No development would have been possible if there were no teacher. The teachers should inculcate the values of 'service to humanity' among the students. They should guide them to contribute to society and the nation. This exposure tour will provide an opportunity for mutual exchange of knowledge that goes far beyond the text books, which promotes deeper understanding of peaceful, clean and green State, customs, traditions and languages" added the Governor.

The Governor wished all the students and teachers a memorable stay in Sikkim.

Earlier, school principal Vikram Singh apprised the Governor about the study tour and expressed their happiness that a senior leader from Rajasthan is leading a beautiful Himalayan State of Sikkim.

Additionally, a student stated that their tour is an attempt to understand State organic farming, environment friendly policies, etc. and highlighted the measures their school is taking, the release mentions.
