Sikkim’s Old Silk Route wins ‘Most Scenic Route in India’ award

GANGTOK,  (IPR):  The historic Old Silk Route in Dzuluk, Sikkimhas been honoured with the prestigious title of ‘Most Scenic Route in India’ by the India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2025. This recognition highlights the region’s stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the State’s commitment to sustainable tourism.

The award was presented at the India Today Travel Awards Ceremony held in New Delhi recently. The accolade was received by Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Tshering T Bhutia, accompanied by principal secretary CS Rao.

Expressing his delight, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay congratulated the people of the State and the Tourism & Civil Aviation department for this remarkable achievement. He also extended gratitude to India Today for the recognition which further cements Sikkim’s position as a premier travel destination.

“The Government of Sikkim remains committed to promoting eco-tourism and sustainable travel, ensuring the preservation of this historic route’s natural charm and cultural significance”, shared the Chief Minister.
