SORENG, (IPR): Soreng held District Level Youth Festival as a part of
National Youth Festival 2025 at the auditorium of PM Shri Government Senior
Secondary School, Soreng. The festival was organised by Sports and Youth
Affairs department, Soreng in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gyalshing
with the Theme “Vikas Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, Empowering Youth to
Lead”.
The event
was attended by Soreng SDM Sunny Khare as the chief guest, Education joint
director MK Khewa, former Indian footballer Sanju Pradhan, Everester Manita
Pradhan, retired headmaster Dinesh Pega, Sports deputy director Mamita Gurung,
Soreng SSS principal Dr. PB Chettri, HODs and officials.
The SDM,
while appreciating the work of Nehru Yuva Kendra, highlighted the significant
role of youth organisations in shaping the future of young individuals. He
urged the youth to actively participate in competitions and emphasized how such
opportunities can help them explore their talents, develop skills, and pursue
areas of personal interests that can guide them towards successful careers or
meaningful contributions to society.
The SDM
also underlined the growing importance of mental and emotional health among the
youth. Stressing on the need for awareness and support, he encouraged
stakeholders, including parents, educators and community leaders, to address
these issues through open communication, professional help when required, and
by creating a nurturing environment.
NYKS
district youth officer Saurav Barman informed that the National Youth Festival
will take place on January 11 and 12, 2025 in Delhi, bringing together youth
from across the nation. This year’s event includes two key categories for
participation. The traditional competition focuses on showcasing India’s rich
cultural heritage through arts, crafts, music, dance, or other indigenous
traditions and the quiz competitions aimed at encouraging intellectual
engagement and awareness.
He added
that the objectives of the festival align with India’s broader vision of
transitioning from a developing to a developed nation by 2047.
The
district-level youth festival had diverse competitions and workshops including
science mela, painting competition, poetry writing, declamation contest, mobile
photography workshop and contest, story writing competition, folk song and folk
dance.
Prizes and
certificates were awarded to winners from each category. The winners of
District Level Youth Festival will represent the district at the State Level
Youth Festival in Gangtok.
