All of us want to be happy always and no one wants to live in distress or sorrows. But the fact is that happiness is sometimes rare as we are more focused with our goals and targets. It is happy to be happy and also spreads happiness amongst others. Everyday must be a day of happiness and we must enjoy every moment of our life.

There is no doubt that happiness is a fundamental human goal. The United Nations General Assembly recognizes this goal and calls for “a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and well-being of all peoples.”

Governments and international organizations should invest in conditions that support happiness by upholding human rights and incorporating well-being and environmental dimensions into policy frameworks, such as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The effectiveness of governments in upholding peace and social order, as well as in the fields of taxation, legal institutions and delivery of public services, strongly correlates with average life satisfaction.

The United Nations invites each person of any age, plus every classroom, business and government to join in celebration of the International Day of Happiness. The World Happiness Report 2025 will be launched on Thursday, 20 March with a series of events, live-streamed from around the world, to celebrate the International Day of Happiness. This year's edition will once again feature a ranking of countries by their average levels of life satisfaction. This will be followed by six chapters looking at ‘caring and sharing’ from different angles.

The General Assembly of the United Nations in its resolution 66/281 of 12 July 2012 proclaimed 20 March the International Day of Happiness, recognizing the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world and the importance of their recognition in public policy objectives. It also recognized the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of all peoples.

To be happy in our profession it is important to choose our careers according to our passions. Only salary is not an indicator of happiness. There are fields and careers that also bring happiness amongst others and we may choose those careers too which includes health professionals like physiotherapy and others, teaching, event planning, nursing, etc.

Dental hygienists play a crucial role in maintaining oral health and often find satisfaction in contributing to people's well-being. Nurses play a crucial role in patient care and often derive great satisfaction from helping others. Psychologists’ help people understand and overcome mental health challenges, offering a chance to make a real difference in people's lives.

Working as a standup comedian or playing the role of a clown sometimes helps many to be happy as many people get a chance to smile. Singers and musicians also bring joy and happiness. But to choose it as a career one can be a happiness coach for which s/he must be committed to work with the people in different situations.

A happiness coach or life coach helps individuals develop fulfillment, happiness, and joy by identifying areas of dissatisfaction and working with them to create lasting positive impacts. There are courses to be a happiness or wellness coach. We have seen an increase in demand for happiness coaches and this will increase as urban and city lifestyle is indirectly affecting our lives in negative ways.
