PAKYONG, (IPR): The closing ceremony of the 71st All India Cooperative Week Celebration under the theme 'Role of Cooperatives in Building Viksit Bharat" was organised by SICUN, in collaboration with Cooperation department, at the conference hall of SICUN, Assam Lingzey today.
The cooperative week is celebrated at a national level to generate cooperative awareness among the public and connect them towards the cooperative movement.
During the programme, messages from Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang were read by Jabi Thapa, Principal Registrar, Cooperation department and Karma Ongmu, Registrar Cooperation department, respectively.
In his address, Arun Upreti, minister for RDD and Cooperation departments, stressed the critical need to uplift the community by fostering cooperative awareness from the grassroots level. He assured that the State government is committed to provide assistance in strengthening and creating a sustainable environment towards the new era of cooperative movement.
Additionally, Dr Mangal Jit Rai, chairman SICUN emphasised on the sector’s significance for economic development, stressing the features and transformative potential of the organisation in bridging the rural-urban gap and creating opportunities for income generation. He also highlighted the State government's ongoing efforts and enhancements to create a supportive ecosystem for cooperatives by integrating various initiatives.
Furthermore, he provided an in-depth discussion on the SICUN web portal, detailing essential information on various business strategies to boost productivity and create significant branding opportunities for local products and improve their visibility in the market.
Additionally, he urged everyone to contribute towards the State's objective of achieving Sunaulo, Samridha through a collective effort.
Subsequently, Gloria Namchu, secretary Cooperation department, highlighted the achievements and challenges of the cooperative societies, further stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation among cooperatives and utilising the platform to bring socio-economic upliftment with numerous work opportunities.
Phadung Bhutia, CEO SICUN, highlighted the theme of this year’s national celebration for Cooperative Week, discussing its significance. He also provided a brief overview of the series of weeklong events and their importance in the cooperation movement.
At the onset, Kripa Charya Chettri, Admin Head Bytesberry Technologies, delivered a presentation on the official web portal developed for the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN). He focused on the key features of the portal, elaborating on how it streamlines operations and improves communication within the organisation. Further, he also discussed the various benefits that the portal offers, emphasising its potential to drive growth and innovation for the institution.
The day also witnessed the launch of a new official web portal for Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) alongside a felicitation and membership distribution ceremony.
Also present were Board of Directors from SICUN, dignitaries from the Cooperation department and officials from various line departments.
