SILIGURI, : “West Bengal government has no concern on the issues of common people
but is more interested in collecting resources and taxes. That is why they did
not turn up in the tripartite meeting called by the Home ministry on April 3 at
North Block in New Delhi,” said Darjeeling MP Raju Bista who arrived on Friday
evening at Bagdogra airport.
Bista
said that the letter was given to the State government for the tripartite talk
but not even a single representative from the government attended the meeting.
According
to Bista, the snub by the State government to the meeting will cause more harm
in future and they will have to regret it.
“The
talk has now begun even at bipartite level but was fruitful and will soon come
to the conclusion which will be positive for the common people,” said Bista.
The
Darjeeling MP added that the Centre allocates Rs 200 croreas funds for the
development for GTA but only Rs 100 crore is provided by the West Bengal
government.
The
ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday convened a meeting with Gorkha
representatives to address issues concerning communities of Gorkhas and it was
