GANGTOK,: In a spirited celebration of Sikkim’s 50th year of Statehood, three
dynamic women from Gangtok — Karma Pinky Bhutia, Aruna Tamang, and Diki Yangzum
— have embarked on an inspiring road trip across North India, covering an
estimated distance of 7,000 km.
Flagging
off their journey on Saturday morning, the trio is set to tour through several
northern States including Jammu & Kashmir, Leh-Ladakh, and Himachal
Pradesh. The aim of the two-week journey is to promote the beauty, culture, and
unique initiatives of Sikkim through a people-to-people campaign, a press
release informs.
Carrying
pamphlets provided by Sikkim Tourism, they plan to engage with locals along the
way, distributing information and creating awareness about Sikkim’s identity as
an organic State, its commitment to cleanliness, and its lush green landscapes.
“We
have taken this trip to tell people about our beautiful State, Sikkim. We will
meet new people and share with them the stories of our organic mission, our
clean environment, and the greenery we are so proud of,” said Karma Pinky
Bhutia.
