DARJEELING,: TMC (Hills) general secretary N.B. Khawas, a senior leader in the
hills, on Friday submitted his resignation letter to the party.
Khawas, who is also the spokesperson of the party
along with the vice president of the TMC’s trade union, however, did not
mention reasons for his resignation in the letter.
In the letter addressed to the president of the TMC
(Hills), Khawas wrote, “This is to inform you that I would like to tender my
resignation from different responsibilities the party has bestowed on me
including the primary membership of All India Trinamool Congress with immediate
effect."
He also thanked the leaders, cadres and members of TMC
for guiding and supporting him while in the party to deliver services to the
people.
Speaking to reporters over the phone, Khawas said, “I
feel that I can work properly for the hills and the people better if I stay
outside the party for which I resigned.”
Khawas denied when asked if it meant that the TMC
was not working for the hills and the people. He added that he has no intention
of joining any party at the moment.
