Violation of Section 28 of the RTE Act, 2009

Dear Editor,

I am writing to draw attention to a pressing issue concerning the adherence to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, specifically Section 28, which prohibits teachers under Government services from engaging in private tuition or teaching activities.

It has come to my attention that this regulation is frequently being disregarded in our community. Numerous instances have been reported where government teachers, despite their obligations under the Act, are offering private tuitions to students. This not only undermines the spirit of the RTE Act but also places undue financial pressure on parents and students, creating an inequitable educational environment.

The intention behind Section 28 is to ensure that teachers focus their efforts on providing quality education within the formal schooling system and to prevent any potential conflict of interest or exploitation of students. Violations of this provision compromise the quality of education and the trust placed in the educational system.

I urge the concerned authorities to enforce this regulation more strictly and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance. Additionally, it would be beneficial for parents and the public to be made aware of their rights under the RTE Act to foster greater accountability and transparency.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
