GANGTOK, : BJP Sikkim observed Ayushman Bharat Diwason Wednesday at Jorethang,
South Sikkim reaffirming its commitment to providing affordable healthcare to
its citizens. The event highlighted the State’s progress under the Ayushman
Bharat scheme, a flagship initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at
making healthcare accessible to all Indians, a press release informs.
Under
the guidance of State BJP president DR Thapa, BJP Sikkim Mahila Morcha
organized a special card drive under the Sewa and Sampark Abhiyan, where local
beneficiaries were assisted in creating Ayushman Bharat and E-Shram cards.
The
Ayushman Bharat scheme provides eligible individuals with free medical
treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh, covering those under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana
(AAY) and senior citizens aged 70 and above.
In
Sikkim, 86,217 individuals from the AAY category and 5,832 senior citizens have
benefited from Ayushman Bharat cards, enabling many families to access quality
healthcare without financial strain.
Sikkim
has also made significant strides in improving its healthcare infrastructure.
The State now has 167 Health and Wellness Centres under Ayushman Bharat,
delivering primary healthcare services to both urban and rural areas.
Furthermore, 12 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established to provide
affordable, high-quality generic medicines, making essential drugs accessible
to all, particularly the underprivileged.
“Through
the Statewide Sewa and Sampark Abhiyan, BJP Sikkim is working diligently to
ensure that no eligible individual is left behind in availing these benefits.
As Sikkim celebrates Ayushman Bharat Diwas 2025, the State remains united in
its pursuit of creating a healthier and more inclusive future, where quality healthcare
is within reach of all,” said State BJP media in-charge Niren Bhandari.
