GANGTOK,: Nar Bahadur Baraily alias Navin has been found guilty of murdering his own grandmother and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment by the Gangtok district sessions court (special division-1).
Accused Nar Bahadur Baraily, 31 years, is a resident of Majhigaon Housing Colony, Rangpo. He was arrested by Rangpo police for murdering his own 82-year-old grandmother at their residence on November 1, 2022.
In the judgment pronounced on August 30, the trial court held that the circumstantial evidence produced by the prosecution unerringly goes to pinpoint the accused for the commission of the crime by which the life of an old lady has come to an end. The court convicted the accused under IPC section 302 and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for life.
The accused had developed a habit of consuming drugs and lived separately from his wife and two children.
A total of 22 witnesses had given their statements during the trial.
The State was represented by Additional Public Prosecutor Yadav Sharma.
