GANGTOK, : The Eco-Club of Rabong Senior Secondary School along with guide
teacher Pappu Rai took part in the Nature Walk at Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary in
South Sikkim. The green activity was organised as a part of Cho-Dzo Fest
Discover Rabong 2025 with the theme ‘Nature, Culture & Sports’, a press
release informs.
Biodiversity
related quiz competition was also organised for the students to empower and
support the young minds in the Eco-club. The students were presented with
wining souvenirs of birds and butterfly frames.
The
competition was held at the Nature Interpretation Centre of Maenam Wildlife
Division Sikkim Forest department.
Conservationists
Nosang Limboo, Sonam Pintso Sherpa and Urgen Yonzone were the three resource
persons for the program. The students expressed gratitude and appreciation for
this initiative.
Nosang
shared his dream to introduce ‘Eco-Club Support Program’ in schools across
Sikkim to support and empower the Eco-Clubs which will play an important role
in nature conservation and awareness.
The
release mentions that Cho-Dzo Fest 2025 has been phenomenal in culminating the
Nature-Culture-Sports into one strong message to all.
Being
a part of the Nature Section during the Discover Rabong 2025, we have
discovered ‘Eco Club Support Program’ which shall empower and support Eco-
Clubs across the State, said Nosang.
To
begin with, a session on biodiversity was held with the Eco-Club VCGL Senior
Secondary School in Rabong. The organisers have expressed their special
gratitude to Sikkim Forest department Maenam Wildlife
Sanctuary Division for the additional support, the release mentions.
