‘Fit India Cycling Drive’ held at Namchi

GANGTOK,: ‘Fit India Cycling Drive,’ a nationwide initiative promoting fitness and sustainability, was launched on Tuesday by Union Sports minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi. The event, part of the broader Fit India Movement, was held across 1,000 locations in India, marking a significant stride in promoting a healthier and greener India.

At Namchi, the Fit India Cycling Drive was launched at Sports Authority of India, Sports Training Centre. The event was flagged off by Sports deputy director Basant Pradhan in the presence of international football player Karishma Rai, informs a press release.

Around 50 cycling enthusiasts including athletes from STC Namchi and students from different schools participated in the 10-kilometre joy ride from the SAI STC to Assangthang helipad and back to the SAI STC, aiming to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation, the release adds.
