GANGTOK, : Following the high-level review meeting on New Criminal Laws chaired
by the Union Home Minister on March 16, which included Chief Ministers of all
Northeastern States and other key officials, State chief secretary R Telang
convened a follow-up meeting on March 19 here at Tashiling Secretariat to
assess the directives and action points discussed.
The
meeting, attended by the Sikkim Police DGP, Law secretary, Home secretary, officials
from State Forensic Science Lab and officers from Home department, reviewed the
outcomes of the discussions held with the Union Home Minister and deliberated
on the implementation of key decisions relevant to the State. Emphasis was placed
on complete adoption of e-Sakshya and rolling out ICJS 2.0 to modernise legal
proceedings and enhance efficiency in a time bound manner, a press release
informs.
The
chief secretary directed all stakeholders to ensure swift action on priority
issues and emphasised more on training of all concerned stakeholders. Further
updates and progress on the implementation of the discussed measures will be reviewed
in subsequent meetings, the release mentions.
