GANGTOK, : Governor Om Prakash Mathur, on his
first visit to his home State of Rajasthan after being appointed as the Governor
of Sikkim, was accorded a grand welcome in Udaipur today.
A large gathering, including Rajasthan
government ministers, local MLA, Udaipur mayor, dignitaries and local
residents, were present to welcome the Governor. They presented him with floral
garlands and commemorative plaques, expressing their pleasure at his
appointment as the Governor of Sikkim.
In his address, Governor Mathur
expressed gratitude for the warm reception. He reflected on his extensive
52-year career in social and political service during which he undertook
numerous challenging responsibilities with dedication across multiple States,
informs a Raj Bhawan release.
Mathur, who has now embraced the
opportunity to serve Sikkim under the constitutional framework, praised Sikkim
for its natural beauty and reiterated that national service remains his highest
priority. He assured that he would carry out his duties with utmost dedication
and commitment and work towards the progress of both Sikkim and the nation.
