Gyalshing police inaugurates new picket post at Som

GANGTOK, : To ensure enhanced safety, security and law enforcement in the region, a new police picket post has been established at Som under Dentam police station. It was inaugurated by area MLA Sudesh Kumar Subba in the presence of Gyalshing SP Tshering Sherpa, Dentam SHO Aita Hang Subba, zillapanchayat members, panchayat presidents and members of the surrounding GPUs, senior citizens and local residents.

He highlighted that the post has been set up in a geographically sensitive location that often faces challenges in terms of connectivity, especially during the monsoon season. Addressing the gathering, the area MLA expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the district police administration in establishing the police picket post in one of the most critical and strategically important areas of the region. He emphasized that the new picket post would play a vital role in maintaining law and order, particularly during the monsoon season when connectivity is frequently disrupted.

The MLA further stated that such initiatives are crucial in fostering a safe and secure environment, which is essential for the overall development and well-being of the community. He encouraged active cooperation between the police and the public, noting that mutual trust and collaboration are key components of effective community policing.
