SILIGURI, :Matigara police have arrested a
man for allegedly killing his second wife with the support of his first wife
and their two sons.
The accused has been identified
as Rajesh Kumar Gupta, also known as Soni.
According to the police, the
incident occurred on Monday night at Tumba Jote village. The victim, Rita Shah,
was found inside her house with multiple injuries and in an unconscious state.
She was rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors
declared her brought dead.
Police revealed that Rajesh,
who had married Rita 12 years ago, was still living with his first wife Rekha
Gupta and their two sons. The family allegedly conspired to kill Rita due to
ongoing conflicts.
Rajesh allegedly used to spend
every night at Rita’s house. However, on Monday night, when he failed to return
home, Rita grew suspicious and went to Rekha’s house to look for him. A heated
argument ensued, during which Rajesh, Rekha and their two sons allegedly
attacked Rita with sharp weapons, inflicting fatal injuries on various parts of
her body.
Following a written complaint
filed by Rita’s family, the police arrested Rajesh from the Tumba Jote area. He
was produced before the Siliguri Court on Tuesday. Police are on the lookout
for the other accused.
