RANGPO,: Rangpo
Nagar Panchayat, in collaboration with community leaders and health experts,
has launched an investigation into the growing sale of injection-shaped sweets
in local markets.
These
sweets, designed to resemble syringes, have become increasingly popular among
children, raising concerns about their potential health and psychological
impacts. Health experts warn that these sweets may contain excessive sugars and
harmful additives, posing risks to children’s health.
Additionally,
the syringe-like packaging is sparking fears that it could normalize the use of
syringes, inadvertently promoting unsafe associations with injection behaviour.
Experts worry that over time, this could desensitize children to the sight of
syringes and potentially influence harmful behaviours.
In
response to these concerns, the Rangpo Nagar Panchayat is also planning to
organize an awareness campaign to educate parents, children and vendors about
the health risks associated with these sweets.
