GANGTOK, : On the occasion of World Book Day, April 23, the State Bank of India
(SBI-LHO) at Kolkata felicitated author Dr.Satyadeep S. Chhetri at their head
office, Samriddhi Bhavan, Kolkata, on Wednesday.
The
award, shawl, and cash prize were presented by Satyendra Kumar Singh, Chief
General Manager (CGM) for SBI Kolkata Circle.
Dr.Satyadeep Chhetri
is a best-selling author of two books viz. ‘GORKHALAND DIARIES: Even Dreams… Uneven
Lives:’ (2022) and ‘Sikkim: From Autocracy to Half-Democracy’ (2023).
“I
am happy to be recognised and felicitated by the SBI. It feels good to see a
bank recognising, appreciating, and felicitating writers and authors from the
region. It is an encouragement for us. For the last few years, the SBI has been
felicitating writers from the Kolkata Circle, and Sikkim also comes under it.
They get recommendations of names of authors from a few publishing houses from
West Bengal, and the SBI does the final selection,” said Chhetri to SIKKIM
EXPRESS.
Dr.Chhetri
is set to release his third book by August-September, this year. The upcoming
fiction is a translation of an award-winning book.
A
senior associate professor in the Chemistry department of Nar Bahadur Bhandari
Government College, Dr.Chhetri has been in the profession for over two decades.
He is also known for hosting events and is a celebrated quizmaster and
columnist. He was also one of the moderators for EXPRESS CAFÉ, an exclusive
talk show hosted by SIKKIM EXPRESS.
