GANGTOK,: Three riders from Gangtok participated in the Indian National Rally Sprint Championship held in Guwahati on Sunday.
Samrat Shamsher Basnett from Daragaon, Tadong participated in the national pro category and finished at a promising 4th place.
Swaraj Pradhan and Ujjwal Sharma from Reshithang participated in the national support rally and finished 3rd and 6th respectively.
The trio aim to popularize motorsports in Sikkim and urged the government to extend support in establishing a motorsports association for the State. They emphasized the untapped potential of Sikkimese riders who could excel nationally and internationally if provided with proper training facilities and track infrastructure.
The riders are optimistic that with the right backing, Sikkim can emerge as a hub for motorsports.
