SILIGURI,: Treevolutuon, a mega tree plantation drive where 10,000 saplings
were planted in 4 hectares of forest land under Bagdogra Range in Kurseong
Forest Division on Tuesday.
This was
the CSR initiative of HDFC Bank under 'Parivartan' project and it is a first in
Naxalbari block after their recent plantation of 6,000 saplings plantation in
Chandigarh.
Additional
Divisional Forest Officer, Kurseong, Rahul Dev Mukherjee and Rishi Ganguly, State
head-operations of HDFC raised the curtain of the project jointly at Nandalal village
under Naxalbari block.
Mukherjee
said that it was not possible for the Forest department to plant such a large
number of saplings and maintain it with proper solar fencing, irrigation
facilities and regular monitoring by their staffs. He appreciated and thanked
the bank officials for making history in this region.
Ranger
Bagdogra forest ranger Sonam Bhutia also highlighted the importance of trees
and appreciated the name given as ‘Treevolutuon’ which is unique and helpful in
making a green environment and saving forest land from encroachment.
