Two young innovators of hills triumph at Digital India Symposium

GANGTOK, : Two students, Akhil Thapa and Vardaan Karki, have secured first place in the prestigious Digital India RISC-V (DIR-V) 2025 competition held at IIT Madras on March 2-3.

Competing against 800+ participants from IITs and top engineering institutes across India, they emerged as winners in the ‘Product Development in DIR-V Symposium Hackathon’ category, alongside their teammate PrithviBhardav from Tamil Nadu.

A press release informs that the event was organized by IIT-Madras, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and RISC-V International. It was chaired by former Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar as part of the Digital India RISC-V initiative, which aims to advance India’s semiconductor and digital technology sector.

The winning project, ‘HelioSync360 Dual Axis Solar Tracker’ is an advanced solar energy efficiency system designed to maximize energy, the release mentions.
