PAKYONG, (IPR): The second coordination meeting of District Level Advisory &
Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) for District Co-ordination & Monitoring
Committee (DISHA) was chaired by Lok Sabha member Indra Hang Subba and
co-chaired by Rajya Sabha member D.T. Lepcha at RURBAN Community Complex, at
Pakyong today.
The meeting had Education minister and Namcheybung MLA Raju
Basnet, Agriculture minister and Chujachen MLA Puran Gurung, zilla adhakshya Laden
Lamu Bhutia, upadhakshya Prabha Pradhan, district collector Agawane Rohan
Ramesh, ADC Sangay Gyasto Bhutia, ADC (Dev) Robin Prasad Sewa, zilla
panchayats, panchayat presidents, officials from various departments and NHIDCL
representatives.
Indra Hang Subba, in his address, emphasised the
importance of focussing on public-centric issues during DISHA meetings. He
stressed the need for discussions that would directly benefit the public and
contribute to their overall development.
A key highlight of his speech was the critical issue of
waste management, with a specific emphasis on maintaining Sikkim's pristine
clean and green environment. He advised holding a coordination meeting in
September to strategize on waste management.
Commending the ADC (Dev) office for its 'Friday Field
Day' initiative aimed at reviving barren land for cultivation, Indra Hang
encouraged its expansion to the block level.
He also underscored the importance of effective
inter-departmental coordination, urging all departments to collaborate
seamlessly for the smooth functioning of operations within the district.
D.T. Lepcha provided valuable suggestions on the
implementation of various schemes and projects. He specifically stressed the
urgent need for the construction of fair-weather roads across different areas
of the district.
Directing NHIDCL, he emphasised the prompt resolution of
public concerns regarding road widening and ensuring timely resolutions for any
damages to nearby houses.
Lepcha brought forward proposals for the beautification
of Pakyong district and highlighted the essential role of coordination and
increased efforts from officials for district development.
His advocacy for regular cleanliness drives involving all
district officials and staff on the last Sunday of every month was
well-received and encouraged a sense of community involvement in maintaining
the district's cleanliness.
Prior to the program, Pakyong DC briefed the attendees on
DISHA, its significance and purpose. Highlighting the role of DISHA in
monitoring and enhancing development activities at the district level, the DC
emphasised the importance of promoting synergy and convergence among various
departments for greater impact.
During the meeting, updates on ongoing projects were
presented by six departments.
ADC (Dev) Robin Prasadd Sewa highlighted activities under
Rural Development department, including PMAY-G, SBM-G, MGNREGA, SASY and Jan
Bharosa Sammelan. Road & Bridges SE Naween Kumar Gurung discussed the
progress, challenges and impacts of ongoing projects in Pakyong district. Power
SE Ruplal Subba provided updates on the power distribution network and Centrally-funded
schemes. Water Resources DE Arjun Gajmer gave report on ongoing work under
PMKSY. DE (Zilla) Kailash Sharma highlighted activities under JJM and
challenges faced during implementation. RDD AE Deepak Gurung shared insights on
PMGSY progress and its benefits to rural villages, including details on
PMGSY-IV. Rangpo MEO Suren Tamang presented a report on the Materials Recovery
Facility (MRF) and Resource Recovery Centre (RRC).
The meeting also had an open discussion where ministers
Raju Basnet and Puran Gurung shared valuable insights and suggestions on the
effective implementation of various schemes.
