We will take Hornbill Festival to another level: Union Tourism minister

KOHIMA,: On the occasion of 25th Hornbill Festival, a stone pulling ceremony was held today at Zakhama, 3 km away from Kasima Heritage Village.

The stone weighing approximately 15 tons was pulled with ropes by people of different tribes of Nagaland from Zakhma to Kasima Heritage Village where the Hornbill Festival is being held. The single piece stone which was brought from Wokha will be used for the Hornbill Festival Silver Jubilee Monument at Kasima Heritage Village.

Union Culture and Tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who was present as the chief guest, said the Hornbill Festival has truly become an international festival where tourists from around the world visit Nagaland to indulge in diverse Naga cultures, tradition and cuisine. It is successful and completed 25 years because of the unity of the Naga people, he said.

“With the support of the Central government we will take this Hornbill Festival to another level so that more people from around the world come and see the vibrancy of this festival.”

The program was also attended by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Tourism minister Temjen Imna Along.
