SORENG,: Former area MLA Aditya Golay on Monday filed his nomination papers
as the SKM candidate of the Soreng-Chakung constituency for the upcoming
bypolls.
The
candidate was accompanied by a large number of SKM functionaries and workers as
he made his way to file his nomination papers. A foot rally was organized by
his supporters, who escorted him to the Soreng District Administrative Centre
where he officially filed his nomination papers to Returning Officer Dhiraj
Subedi.
So far,
only the SKM has submitted candidature for Soreng-Chakung with October 25 as
the last date for filing of nominations. Voting is scheduled on November 13.

leaders MN Sherpa, Bhim Hang Limboo Lok Nath Sharma, Madan Cintury and Erung T.
Lepcha along with panchayats and party workers escorted Aditya to the Soreng
DAC.
Speaking
briefly to the media, Aditya Golay expressed gratitude to his supporters for
their overwhelming response. “I am deeply humbled by the love and trust shown
by the people of Soreng-Chakung. Together, we will continue the work of
development and progress for our constituency,” said Aditya Golay.
Aditya
previously served as the Soreng-Chakung MLA from 2019 to 2024.
In the
2024 Assembly elections, SKM president & Chief Minister PS Golay contested
and comprehensively won from Soreng-Chakung and Rhenock. The Chief Minister
later vacated Soreng-Chakung and opted to stay as the Rhenock MLA, paving way
for the bypolls.
