Agartala startup presents autonomous robots at Sikkim Blue Duke Festival

GANGTOK, : Agartala-based CUBO-BOTS is one of the participants of Sikkim Blue Duke Festival 2025, a three-day event, engaging the students and youth with emerging technology, culture and food. It is initiated by Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba at Sarmasa Garden from February 14 to 16.

The startup from Agartala manufactures autonomous robots in 3 sections, which include CU (See You) Bots for vision-based point-to-point navigation, CU (Creative Utility) Bots for generation of creative arts and CU (Cumulative Usage) Bots for daily-usage applications.

These types of robots are inline crucially with research centers, agricultural sectors, payload transportation, mining sectors, civil engineering departments, and disaster rescue sectors. Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) serves as the main working principle behind scanning of the environment and real time simultaneous explored trajectory visibility is obtained from the visualizer of ROS (Robot Operating System).

“Different optical and blind sensors are often equipped for source input from the environment followed by proper static and dynamic obstacle detection followed by situational awareness and decision making for further navigation. With a diverse set of knowledge and experience of its founders in the field of Visual Inference and Machine Learning, CUBO-BOTS offers to develop professional solutions for various funded projects and provide consultancy to their unique demands,” expressed the startup’s honorary director and mentor Dr. Suman Deb.

CUBO-BOTS private limited was incorporated on January 15, 2024. The startup was pre-incubated in Institute Innovation Council e-Cell and Startup (IICeS) of NIT Agartala, intended with the purpose of achieving autonomous robot operations. The team includes founding director and CEO Rapti Chaudhuri, co-founder Tanudeep Ganguly, honorary director and mentor Dr. Suman Deb and design associate Devender Singh.

The startup is extensively working on research robots, which primarily include wheeled ground robots. The sensors and cameras used in application or research are A1M8 series RP LiDAR, TF Luna, TF Micro Rangefinders, Intel Realsense D455, Oak D and Gyro sensors, accelerometer, temperature & humidity sensors, and ultrasound sensors.

The key technologies the startup focused on are AI, machine vision, machine learning and Deep learning, Generative Adversarial Neural Network, Spatial Attention models and Simultaneous Localization and Mappings Heuristics and Metaheuristics on Path exploration & planning. These robots are sectioned under Vision-based point-to-point navigation, creative generation and cumulative daily usage. All the machines are patented, informed the team.

“This is our second time in Sikkim, we had represented Tripura at the Startup Govt workshop organised by NITI Aayog in Gangtok in November 2024. The Blue Duke festival is a motivation to the students and youths to preserve Sikkim and make it a knowledge hub. We have come here to meet and learn from others,” said Deb.
