GANGTOK,: The Sikkim Nationalized Transport (SNT), under the Transport department
of the Government of Sikkim, was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation by
the 27 Mountain Division on December 11 at their headquarters in Kalimpong.
A
press release informs that the certificate was presented by Major General K.S.
Dhadwal, GOC, 27 Mountain Division, to recognize SNT’s remarkable contributions
to rebuilding North Sikkim’s damaged roads following the devastating Glacial
Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in 2023 and the subsequent flash floods in 2024.
SNT
and the Indian Army have a longstanding and mutually supportive relationship.
SNT plays a crucial role in transporting Army store supplies, petroleum
products, and personnel to various locations in North and East Sikkim, the
release mentions.
Officers
of SNT who attended the function and received the Certificate of Appreciation
on behalf of the Department include general manager Dukpa Sherpa, ACE Binay
Pradhan, joint general manager (ops) Bhupendra Chhettri, and traffic inspector
Kiran Khawas. The SNT drivers were Ashish Chettri, Gyan Bahadur Chettri, Shree
Prasad Rai, Homraj Chettri and Bhim Chettri.
Transport
commissioner-cum-secretary Raj Yadav also expressed gratitude for SNT’s
exceptional service.
“This
recognition is a testament to the positive guidance provided by our esteemed
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and our Advisor Madan Cintury in the
Transport department. Under the phenomenal leadership of the Chief Minister and
the Advisor, the Transport department is committed to achieving even greater
heights in the coming years. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Army for
recognizing our efforts,” said the department in its press statement.
