GANGTOK,: Education minister Raju Basnet on Wednesday tabled bills for
establishment of three private universities in Sikkim.
As
per the bill, the Swastik University Sikkim is proposed to be established at
Martam-Rumtek by Delhi-based Tend Education Foundation.
The
Trident University of Applied Sciences is proposed to be established at
Maneybong-Dentam by Ghanshyam Bohra Charitable Foundation, Jaipur.
Similarly,
the Vardha Education Vikas Trust from Haryana proposes to establish Sri
Venkateshwara University at Rhenock.
The
Education minister also introduced the Sikkim Model Schools Bill 2025.
The
bill proposes to establish the Sikkim Model School, a government-aided school,
to serve as exemplars of innovative educational system, designed to provide a
high-quality education while serving as models for other schools to emulate and
to have a clear vision and mission that guide their educational philosophy and
goals and matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
The
proposed Sikkim Model School is to be established at Assam Lingzey near
Ranipool.

and voting on these bills will be taken up in the next Assembly sitting.
