GANGTOK,: Indra Hang Subba, the lone Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, met BRO
additional director general George P Cherian at his office in New Delhi
regarding his home State’s road connectivity issues.
The BRO
additional director general and engineering cell officials briefed the Lok
Sabha MP on the ongoing restoration and realignment of roads along Toong- Naga,
Chungthang-Lachen and Lachen-Zeema-Thangu stretches in North Sikkim.
The
permanent restoration of roads leading to North Sikkim is our highest priority,
as it concerns national security of India as well as the well-being of the
people of North Sikkim, said Indra Hang in a social media statement.
He also
took up the concerns of residents of Dzuluk, Pakyong district.
“We also
discussed regarding the concerns raised by public of Dzuluk regarding alignment
of proposed double lane road, which allegedly would affect the beautiful Silk
Route which is a major tourist attraction. The officer in-charge in Sikkim has
assured a meeting to explain the alignment in the area in detail. I hope that
an amicable solution will be arrived at and the concerns of the people of Dzuluk
will be redressed,” said the Lok Sabha MP.
