PAKYONG, (IPR): The district-level preliminary round of the Inter Constituency
(Men's) Football Tournament, organised as part of the Makar Sankranti
celebration 2025, concluded at St Xavier's School ground, Pakyong, today.
The event
was organised by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong District.
The
tournament, featuring competition among five assembly constituencies of the
district, commenced on January 6, 2025.
The final
match today was played between Chujachen and Namcheybong, with Chujachen
emerging victorious, earning the opportunity to represent the district at the
State Level Football Tournament.
The State-level
matches are scheduled to begin on January 9 at Jorethang Football Stadium, with
teams from six districts competing for the title.
The event
was attended by SP Bhutia, Divisional Forest Officer (T), Nim Dorjee Bhutia, deputy
director, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong district, Pintcho
Bhutia, deputy director, Rongli subdivision, Robert Lepcha, assistant director,
Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong district, Sabin Subba, president
of Pakyong Sporting Club and members of the community.
