GANGTOK,: Paljor Tamang’s all-round brilliance guided Sikkim to their first win in this season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In a Group B encounter in Mumbai today, Sikkim defeated Meghalaya by 30 runs.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sikkim posted a total of 181 in 44.2 overs. Paljor Tamang anchored the innings with a composed knock of 53 runs off 74 balls. His crucial 72-run partnership with Parth Palawat (34) helped stabilize the innings after a shaky start that saw Sikkim reeling at 63 for 4.
Meghalaya, in reply, struggled in their chase and were bowled out for 151 in 47.1 overs. The bowling attack was led by Paljor Tamang, who took three wickets for 27 runs including the important wicket of Meghalaya skipper Akash Choudhary (62). Md Talim, Md Saptulla and Ankur Malik contributed with two wickets each.
For his match-winning all-round performance, Paljor Tamang was named the Player of the Match.
