GANGTOK, (IPR): The Burtuk Helipad Gangtok on Tuesday afternoon was
transformed into a vibrant center for excitement and celebration as JK Tyres
hosted a remarkable Auto Show, serving as an engaging precursor to the
inaugural Mountain Rush Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) Car Rally.
The
event was honoured by the presence of Director General of Police Akshay
Sachdeva who served as the chief guest. He was accompanied by MLA cum Advisor to
the Urban Development department and the Food & Civil Supplies department,
Delay Namgyal Barfungpa, along with MLA Sonam Tshering Venchungpa, who attended
as guests of honour.
In
her welcome address, Information and Public Relations (IPR) secretary Annapurna
Alley provided an overview of the TSD Rally and the planned itinerary. She
expressed her heartfelt gratitude to JK Tyres and various State government
departments for their comprehensive support in organising the event.
Head
of Operations at JK Tyres Hari Singh articulated his enthusiasm for being
associated with the inaugural edition of the Mountain Rush Rally. He extended
his best wishes for a safe and successful rally to all participants and
conveyed his appreciation to the attendees. Singh also honoured the Director
General of Police and the IPR secretary for their contributions to the event.
A
notable highlight of the afternoon was the impressive exhibition of
high-performance vehicles, which included Formula 4 cars, modified Maruti
Balenos, Lexus and BMW models, Stroke Rotax Karts, and superbikes such as the
Kawasaki Ninja 1000cc, Honda CBR 650cc, and Suzuki Gixxer 750cc. The audience
was enthralled by a series of thrilling auto stunts performed by professional
stunt teams, demonstrating exceptional skills in precision driving, speed, and
control.
In
his address, the DGP expressed his satisfaction at witnessing such a unique
event in Gangtok. He commended the organisers for their diligent efforts while
advising the youth to refrain from imitating the stunts performed, instead
encouraging them to aspire to participate in future editions of the rally. He
emphasised that the TSD rally would impart essential values such as patience
and perseverance to the people of Sikkim. He concluded by extending his best
wishes to the participants.
The
day culminated with the ceremonial flag-off of the 1st Mountain Rush TSD Rally,
conducted by DGP Akshay Sachdeva. The competing vehicles were officially
dispatched, embarking on their journey through Sikkim’s rugged yet picturesque
terrain.
The
rally aims to foster rural tourism, promote homestays, and highlight the
cultural richness of Sikkim, while positioning the State as an emerging
contender in the national motorsport arena.
This
grand celebration of automotive excellence, cultural heritage, and sporting
spirit created a memorable experience for all attendees and established an
exhilarating tone for the upcoming days of the rally.
