Tathangchen Gold in semis of 23rd Chief Minister’s Compound Archery Gold Cup

PAKYONG,  (IPR): The fourth quarter-final of the 23rd Chief Minister’s Compound Archery Gold Cup took place Monday at Karthok Archery Field in Pakyong.

The day's event was graced by Advisor, Forest & Environment department, Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, as the chief guest alongside Advisor to CM, Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada, and Zilla Adhakshya Pakyong District, Laden Lhamu Bhutia.

The tournament is being organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Sikkim Abhiyan, in commemoration of the 50th year of Sikkim’s Statehood.

The tournament is being held under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Sikkim Abhiyan campaigns, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s Statehood. It is organised by the Pakyong District Archery Association in collaboration with the District Administration Centre, Pakyong.

In today’s match, Tathangchen Gold faced off against Menamla Blue and claimed a decisive win with a score of 60–07. Chedup Tshering Bhutia of Tathangchen Gold was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his performance.

The dart competition also witnessed action, with Champo 7 defeating Yangla Boys North in the opening match, followed by RKA Boys overcoming Yakten Boys in the next round.

Following the matches, the guests toured the venue, engaged with participants, and took part in kite flying session.

Additional attractions at the venue included a health camp, PMJAY registration booths, stalls run by Self Help Groups, traditional huts, and a display of various types of bows and arrows.

Cultural programmes added color to the day, with traditional dances performed by Parakha GPU teams.

To encourage women to embrace archery as a sport and showcase their skills, an exhibition match between the women's team of Bhutan and the team from the Pakyong District Archery Association is scheduled for April 22.

The tournament began on April 10 and is set to conclude on April 27.

Also in attendance were the panchayat members, officials from various line departments, NDRF officials, local gentry, and the general public.
