CM assures cooperation for ADB's Climate-Resilient Urban Infrastructure Project

GANGTOK, (IPR): A team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Project Team Leader, Senior Urban Development Specialist Dr Kyaw Thu, called on Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at his official residence in Mintokgang, today. The meeting also had the presence of Urban Development Department (UDD) team headed by the commissioner-cum secretary, Jitendra Singh Raje.

The ADB team consisted of Myra Ravelo, (financial management specialist), Dawa Choki, procurement specialist, Saswati G Belliappa, senior social safeguards specialist, and Maria Angela Malihan, project analyst. UDD was represented by Bhupendra Kothari, chief engineer, Dipankar Lama, additional director, and Niranjan Kapil, urban planner.

The ADB team is here in Sikkim for the Pre Fact Finding Mission. They presented the details of the Sikkim Integrated Urban Development Project and its upcoming infrastructure and planning components.

The project comprises of smart and climate resilient urban infrastructure for water supply and sanitation, and urban transport components along with enhancement of integrated urban planning and climate resilience within the state.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of initiating projects promptly and assured full cooperation and support from the State government during the meeting. He also expressed gratitude for the multiple visits to Sikkim, demonstrating the government's commitment to collaborative efforts.
