GANGTOK, : The ruling Sikkim
Krantikari Morcha organized a candlelight march at MG Marg, Gangtok on Sunday
evening to protest against the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam,
Jammu & Kashmir.
The event commenced at 5 pm
with prayers offered by monk, pandit and pastor, followed by floral tributes to
the victims of the attack.
Chief Minister P.S. Golay, who
also participated in the candlelight march alongside Cabinet ministers,
expressed the State’s solidarity with the victims and denounced terrorism. He
stated, “Though the terrorist attack on 22nd April did not claim any victims
from our State, many people from different parts of India, who were visiting as
tourists, became victims. The Sikkim government and the people of Sikkim come
together today to stand against such terrorist attacks. At times like this, we
want to send a clear message that we stand united with the rest of the
country.”
