GANGTOK,: Soreng District has officially inaugurated its winter coaching program for Class 10 students as part of the Chief Minister's Mentorship Programme. The initiative was launched virtually by Education minister Raju Basnett, alongside additional chief secretary R. Telang, secretary-cum-SPD Tashi Chopel, and other officials from the Education department.
A press
release informs that the programme encompasses 12 identified free winter
coaching centers across Soreng District, aimed at providing academic support to
students preparing for their upcoming board examinations.
During the
inaugural ceremonies, Soreng-Chakung MLA Aditya Golay inaugurated the program
at Chakung Senior Secondary School while MLA Erung Tenzing Lepcha did the same
at Mangalbaria Senior Secondary School. The CEO of the Education department for
Soreng District was also present during the inauguration at Soreng Senior
Secondary School, the release mentions.
Simultaneous
inaugurations took place at all 12 identified coaching centres in the district,
attended by dignitaries and officials from Soreng District. A key highlight of
the event was a virtual interaction with the Education minister, emphasizing
the critical role of mentorship in helping students navigate their academic
challenges, the release mentions.
The winter
coaching program is designed to provide targeted academic assistance to Class
10 students, ensuring they are well-prepared for their board examinations in
2024-25. With dedicated mentorship and resources available, approximately 670
students are expected to benefit significantly from this initiative, enhancing
their chances of success in their upcoming assessments, the release adds.
Another
release informs that the inauguration of CM Mentorship Program at Sardar Ran
Bahadur Gurung SSS Kaluk was done today by Zilla Adhyakshya Tila Devi Gurung
and Sonam Palzor Bhutia, (OSD, Education department), Government of Sikkim.
The details
of the centres are Kaluk Senior Secondary School (41 students), Hathidunga
Secondary School (12 students), and Rinchenpong Secondary School (13 students).
There are
11 teachers assigned for coaching for different subjects where a total 66
students have been enrolled so far.
