GANGTOK, (IPR): Renowned filmmaker Anurag Basu has completed his recce in
Gangtok and is all set to begin shooting his new project in Sikkim by the end
of this month. The upcoming project is expected to showcase the scenic beauty
of Sikkim on a global platform, further boosting the State’s tourism and
growing reputation as a film-friendly destination.
During
his visit, Basu expressed his long-cherished desire to shoot in Sikkim, stating
that the State had been on his wish list for a very long time. “It feels
incredible that this dream is finally coming true,” he shared. He also praised
the picturesque locations and serene landscapes, which he believes will add a
unique visual appeal to his project.
Acknowledging
the support extended by the Sikkim government, Basu expressed his gratitude to
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay. He specifically appreciated the swift
and smooth facilitation of official procedures required for filming in the State.
The
acclaimed director further emphasised the potential of Sikkim as a
film-friendly destination, stating that he would highly recommend it to his
fellow filmmakers. “The experience has been fantastic. I am truly impressed
with the efficiency of the process, and I would definitely encourage my
colleagues to consider Sikkim for their future projects,” he said.
With
Basu’s film set to commence shooting soon, the project is expected to bring
Sikkim into the spotlight, attracting more filmmakers to explore the state’s
untapped cinematic potential.
