GANGTOK,: Miss Sikkim beauty pageant organizer Positude is
all set to host the first ever grand finale of Miss Universe Sikkim, scheduled
to be held at Manan Kendra here on August 10.
The
winner of Miss Universe Sikkim will get direct entry into Miss Universe India,
under the Glamanand Group organization that selects India’s official
representative to the Miss Universe pageant. The 73rd edition of Miss Universe
will be held in Mexico in November.
In
a press conference held today, Positude proprietor and Miss Universe Sikkim
State director Bijay Subba informed that Miss Universe accepts all kinds of
beauty and that there would be a height
and age limit. For Sikkim, the age limit would be 17–32 years, he said.
The
auditions will be held at Cherry Garden Hotel, Geyzing (West) on June 9, Lasso
Residency, Namchi (South) on June 16, MSSS auditorium, Mangan (North) on June
23 and Days Inn Hotel, Gangtok (East) on June 30.
“Before,
Northeastern beauties hardly got an opportunity to represent their State in
Miss Universe India. As Glamanand Group has acquired the franchise rights to
the Miss Universe competition, now the Northeast has the chance to get a direct
entry into the Miss Universe India competition. There will be no partiality
henceforth,” said Subba.
He
further thanked Glamanand Group for giving Positude a chance to meet the
reigning Miss Universe.
Positude
co-founder, creative head, and Miss Universe West Bengal State director Mazid
Khan (Rui) expressed pride in Positude's collaboration with Miss Universe.
“This collaboration will unlock opportunities and bring international and
global opportunities to the States. It will create buzz and attention and
promote India as a whole,” he said.
Miss
Universe India director of operations and marketing head for the Northeast
region, Amjad Khan, congratulated Team Positude for the collaboration with
Glamanand. “Since its establishment in 2015, Glamanand Group has been
organizing different pageants.
With
10 years of experience in pageantry, we are happy to get the license for Miss
Universe. To make the pageant accessible to every state, we have appointed
state directors in each state and UT. The state directors are appointed so that
there is a contestant representing each state and UT. It also gives each state
each state a chance to showcase their culture, traditions, local textiles, etc.
Interested parties can directly contact the state directors,” said Khan.
Miss
Grand 2023, Arshina Sambul, assured that Glamanand Group is a leading pageant
organization. “This year, each State and UT has an opportunity to participate
in Miss Universe India. The opportunity is at your doorstep. I urge the girls
to believe in themselves and never give up,” she said.
Miss
Asia Pacific India 2024, Sophiya Singh, stated, “We would love to see girls
from the Northeast in Miss Universe India this time. We are looking for women
to represent their state nationally and internationally. Miss Universe is not a
small thing; the title is always about women and is about sending a positive
message to the world.
Prepare
yourself accordingly. Note that when the judges look at you, they do not have
to think about a second choice. Come well prepared, as you will be representing
India socially in Miss Universe,” said Singh.
