GANGTOK, : Indian actor, model and fitness icon Milind Soman and his wife, Ankita Konwar, arrived in Gangtok today ahead of the ‘West Point Sikkim Sarathi Run 2024’ scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The celebrity couple – the national brand ambassadors for the event – expressed their enthusiasm to participate in the marathon and explore Sikkim during their stay.
Organized by Gangtok Smart City Ltd in collaboration with Mesaso Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd, the event carries a tagline 'Run to the Best Point' and is the first-ever marathon in India dedicated exclusively to drivers.
A prize pool totalling Rs. 12.5 lakh has been allocated across six categories, providing ample incentive for participants. The open category for male and female runners offers cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh for the first-place winner, Rs. 75,000 for the second-place finisher and Rs. 50,000 for the third position.
Likewise, there are age categories of 36-49 years and 50+, Sarathi Open and Local Open with attractive cash prizes, and a 3-kilometre fun run for individuals of all fitness levels.
