GANGTOK, : Former minister Sher Bahadur Subedi passed away on Friday morning
after a prolonged illness at the age of 66 years. He had served as a minister
for various departments for three terms (1999-2004, 2004-2009 & 2014-2019)
during the SDF government. His final term came after being elected from
Geyzing-Bermiok constituency, West Sikkim in 2014.
Chief
Minister PS Golay has expressed his deep condolences on the demise of the
former minister.
My
heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family and friends during this
difficult time and pray for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace, he said
in his condolence message
The SDF
held a condolence meeting at its party headquarters here to mourn the passing
away for their senior party leader. Rich tributes were paid to late Subedi
during the meeting chaired by party president Pawan Chamling.
Chamling
expressed his deep sadness over the passing away late Subedi, a political
colleague since the founding days of SDF party. Late Subedi started his
political life from SDF and ended in SDF, this was his biggest ideological
stand which I deeply respect, he said.
The
contributions made by Late Subedi towards SDF and Sikkim politics were
exemplary, said Chamling, adding that Late Subedi was a principled leader who
stayed true to the party’s ideologies and programmes.
The SDF
president shared that Late Subedi always stood in favour of justice and
fearlessly fought against exploitation and suppression. He said the SDF party
would write and publish a book on the life and achievements of Late Subedi.
Senior SDF
functionaries, at the condolence meeting, remembered Late Subedi and shared
their experiences with the former party leader, a SDF release informs.
