GANGTOK, : Chief Minister P.S. Golay was
re-elected as the president of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha on Monday.
At the party’s central executive committee
meeting at Manan Kendra here, minister Arun Upreti proposed Golay’s name for
another term, emphasizing his role in strengthening the party. The proposal was
seconded by minister Sonam Lama.
Golay thanked the party members for his
re-election, and the trust and responsibility bestowed upon him. He also
expressed his gratitude to the people of Sikkim and pledged to work towards the
State’s growth in various sectors.
Golay credited the SKM’s inclusive
political ideology and initiatives like Aama Shashaktikaran Yojana, Bahini
Yojana, SGAY, Mero Rukh Mero Santati and Janta Bhet Karyakram for earning the
people’s trust. These programs have promoted transparency and direct engagement
with the government, he said.
The meeting was the first since the SKM’s
victory in the 2024 general elections where they won 31 out of 32 Assembly
seats. Golay dedicated the victory to the hard work and unity of the party
workers.
“Their relentless efforts and unity were
pivotal, and I wholeheartedly dedicate this success to them. Together, we will
continue to strive for the progress and prosperity of our beloved Sikkim,”
Golay wrote on Facebook.
He also recalled the party’s struggle
days in 2009 and expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the party
since then.
“Thank you all for your unwavering
support and dedication. Let's move forward together with renewed vigour and
determination. I assure you that the party will give justice to all our
karyakartas and will always stand beside them,” Golay wrote, adding that he
will meet and interact with the party workers after the Budget session.
Despite the dissolution of the CEC, DLC,
CLC, WLC and all party portfolios today, Golay assured that the party would
continue to work for Sikkim’s progress until new appointments are made.
