GANGTOK,: Chief Minister PS Golay would be embarking on a three-day Jan
Bharosa Sammelan series from February 26 during which government welfare schemes,
financial grants, service regularisation memorandums, new job appointment
orders and other benefits are being distributed to thousands of beneficiaries
in all the six districts.
The ‘Jan
Bharosa Sammelan’ drive organised by the Rural Development department sees the
Chief Minister reaching out to the people of all the 32 constituencies in three
days. He starts from Soreng district in the morning of February 26 covering the
beneficiaries of four constituencies – Richenpong, Daramdin, Soreng-Chakung and
Zoom-Salghari.
In the
afternoon, the Chief Minister is holding the ‘Jan Bharosa Sammelan’ for
Yuksom-Tashiding, Yangthang, Maneybung-Dentam and Gyalshing-Barnyak
constituencies under Gyalshing district at Pelling senior secondary school
ground.
“The Jan
Bharosa Sammelan series are for the people of all the six districts of Sikkim.
In this Sammelan, various welfare schemes and benefits like Ama yojana, housing
allotment orders under SGAY and SUGAY, new adhoc job orders and regularisation
memorandums are being handed over to the people,” said Chief Minister’s press
secretary Bikash Basnet to SIKKIM EXPRESS on Saturday.
On
February 27, the ‘Jan Bharosa Sammelan’ for Namchi district is taking place at
Lametar Ground Temi in the morning and Kitam school ground in the afternoon.
The Temi programme is for Temi-Namphing, Yangang-Rangang, Tumin-Lingi and
Barfung constituencies. The constituencies of Poklok-Kamrang,
Namchi-Singhithang, Melli and Namthang-Rateypani would be covered at Kitam.
To a
question, Basnet maintained that the SKM government’s ‘Jan Bharosa Sammelans’
comes with a “guarantee” as compared to the past SDF government’s ‘Janta Mela’
where the benefit delivery had no surety.
“In the
Janta Melas, the Janta were brought to listen to speeches only, they used to
get only tokens and there was less number of benefits. There were no guarantee
in Janta Melas, only tokens were given for house construction but those houses
were never made. In the ‘Jan Bharosa Sammelans’, cheques are being given to the
beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes. This time, people have
‘Bharosa’ (faith) on the Chief Minister and they know that the allotment orders
and welfare schemes are fully guaranteed,” said Basnet, also the SKM
spokesperson.
On
February 28 first half, Saramsa Garden would be hosting the beneficiaries of
seven constituencies of Gangtok district, Sangha and three constituencies of
Mangan district. In the afternoon hours, the Chief Minister will be heading to
Pakyong town where benefits are to be distributed to beneficiaries of West
Pendam, Rhenock, Chujachen, Gnathang-Machong and Namcheybong.
Respective
district administrations are making the required preparations with concerned
departments for the event, considering the expected huge public turnout.
To a
question, Basnet said the government benefit distribution programmes have been
annually held by the SKM government. “We have being doing such Sammelans
annually and not only during election. It is our routine programme to
distribute benefits to the people,” he said.
