May 16, 2025 marks the 50th year of Sikkim being an integral part of India. Elaborate discussions and ground-level works are going on by the State government to celebrate Sikkim State’s Golden Jubilee in a befitting manner.

Following the official invitation presented by the Chief Minister last August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consented to grace the 50th Statehood Day celebrations as its chief guest.

The Chief Minister, in his address, shared that the Prime Minister is visiting Sikkim to attend the historic Golden Jubilee celebrations as its chief guest. The Prime Minister may not come exactly on May 16, he may come bit earlier or bit later, he updated the gathering.

After the official inauguration, Sikkim will be holding yearlong festivities and events to mark its Golden Jubilee year. From May 16, after the Prime Minister inaugurates the celebrations, we will do festive programmes and events for one year to celebrate our 50th Statehood year and show our happiness to be the 22nd State of India, said the Chief Minister.
