GANGTOK, : Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended a collective marriage ceremony organized by Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram-Uttarbanga at Salbari, Siliguri today.
Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram-Uttarbanga, an organization dedicated to the welfare and development of tribal communities, organized its 14th collective marriage ceremony at the Birsa Sishu Shiksha Kendra at Salbari. The event witnessed marriage of 108 couples in a communal celebration that fosters unity and cultural preservation among tribal societies.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the occasion and offered his heartfelt blessings and words of encouragement to the newlywed couples. His presence highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting social harmony and cultural integrity, informs a Raj Bhawan release.
“These ceremonies have significantly benefited the tribal community by helping them maintain their cultural and religious practices without economic strain. The event, entirely supported by the community, serves as a bridge for mutual understanding between urban residents and tribal communities, promoting cultural exchange and solidarity,” the release states.
The Governor lauded Vanaras Kalyan Ashram for their initiative.
